Plasma Surgical

Non-Surgical blepharoplast

Using advanced focused Plasma technology to tighten the skin.

Plasma treatment works by triggering a contraction of the skin fibres to bring about a tightening, lifting and remodelling effect. Plasma treatment is perfect for delicate non surgical eye lid tightening surgery (blepharoplasty) as well as other skin tightening treatments.

As we get older, our skin begins to change. In our youth, we possess collagen and elastin in abundance. These are proteins produced by and stored in the skin. As we age, the levels at which we produce these proteins decreases, and what is being stored in the skin is used up. This weakens the skin and the connective tissues that hold it in place, causing lines, wrinkles, sagging, and thinning of the skin. As protein reserves begin to deplete, you may notice certain changes, including hooded eyelids, deep lines, or hyperpigmentation. Luckily, patients no longer have to turn to invasive and expensive surgical solutions to deal with these conditions.

Plasma treatment is suitable for the following areas

  • Upper and Lower eye lid blepharoplasty
  • Brow Lift
  • Milia removal
  • Xanthelasma (fatty eye deposits)
  • Crows feet
  • Smile lines
  • Lines around the mouth (bar code lines)
  • Full face skin tightening
  • Skin Tags
  • Mole and wart removal
  • Scar and Stretch mark improvement
  • Acne Scarring improvement

and the treatment is

  • Safe and in compliance with European and FDA standards
  • Focused and targeted to delivery precise results.
  • Plasma treatment is much less invasive than laser or diathermy
  • There is minimal downtime and risk of complication associated with Plasma treatment vs surgery.

Treatment works by forming plasma (the fourth state of matter) in the 1-2mm space between the tip of the device and the skin. Plasma forms a tiny arch which triggers a process called sublimation – where a solid turns straight into a gas – this in turn causes the fibres of the skin to shrink, contract and tighten. Tightening of the skin fibres contracts the surface area of the skin, creating an improvement in the appearance of drooping or sagging skin on the face, eyelids etc Due to the precise nature of Plasma, where heat is very accurately directed and doesn’t transfer to the surrounding tissues, Plasma is a safe and comfortable treatment.

Other skin tightening treatments include Fractora. However few treatments are suitable for the delicate skin of the eye lid.

Eyelid tightening blepharoplasty using plasma surgical treatment is suitable for most people. We discuss your medical history at your new patient consultation.

Plasma surgical skin tightening is considered a safe treatment as plasma causes immediate skin tightening through sublimation. There is no electric current or heat transferred.

Local anaesthetic is applied prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort with local anaesthetic injections in some areas. Treatment may feel warm in some places and you may experience a tingling sensation.

Healing takes roughly 10 days

First, the skin is thoroughly cleansed with antiseptic.

Some areas may not need anaesthetic at all. However, if needed, topical anaesthetic is first applied and left to numb the skin for 20-30 minutes. A numbing injection can be given to numb the area further, although this is rarely required.

Dermal fillers are effective in the treatment of the following areas:

Crow’s feet

Under eye bags

Upper Eyelids

Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth Lines)

Peri-Oral lines (smokers’ lines)

Smile lines

Marionette lines (mouth to chin Lines)

Common side effects are

  • Swelling
  • Burning sensation
  • Tenderness
  • Skin discolouration
  • Crusting/scabbing of the skin

We will fully discuss aftercare with you, and make sure all of your questions have been answered. Many of us prefer to have things written down as a reminder, so you will also receive a copy of the advice to take away with you. Some examples include:

Post treatment it is best to keep the treated area dry for 24-48 hours

Immediately after the treatment the skin may feel hot or a little stingy, with swelling which will begin to manifest itself.

An ice cube in a rubber glove, covered with a dry cloth or tissue will ease the sensation

Sleeping whilst elevated should help with any access swelling, this will alleviate throughout the day once you are upright

Swelling could last for 2-5 days on average

There may be a small crust which may last from 4-8 days, DO NOT exfoliate or pick these crusts, let them come off naturally. New ‘baby pink skin’ will appear under where the crusts were.

Slight redness can last up to 8 days in some cases

If the treated area gets wet in the first 24-48 hours ‘pat dry’ with a clean towel

Do not use a sauna or steam room until the crusts have come off naturally

Do not undertake rigorous sweaty exercise for 24-48 hours after the treatment

Please take regular daily photographs of your progress/healing

Please use a mineral based makeup after 48 hours if you need to cover the crusts

Please consult your practitioner regarding your moisturiser.

Book a no-obligation consultation with an experienced practitioner. You can call us directly or request a call-back.

After taking a full medical history, your laser practitioner will discuss the treatment and your expectations with you. You will also be provided with detailed information on the procedure and the likely outcomes. Should you wish to go ahead with the treatment after a cooling-off period, another appointment will be made to begin your treatment.

On arrival for your treatment you will be asked to check over your medical history form to confirm that nothing has changed. You will be then asked to complete a treatment consent form.

After cleansing the skin and applying an ultrasound gel, the practitioner will apply a series of laser pulses across the treatment area. It involves no downtime so there is no disruption to your lifestyle and you can resume to normal activities straight after your treatment.

The goal of plasma treatment is to boost the body’s natural healing process by promoting the production of elastin and collagen, whilst also controlling oil production and reducing the appearance of pigmentation. Plasma is also capable of sterilising the skin and destroying bacteria that may be negatively impacting your skin’s appearance. It does this by utilising the power of plasma, an ionised gas that holds an electric charge, and applying it to the skin at a certain atmospheric pressure. Plasma BT treatment takes two different forms: Plasma Soft-Surgical and Plasma Shower.

Despite its name, Plasma Soft-Surgical is not an invasive surgical procedure, but can produce results comparable to what you can expect from surgery without the need for incisions. During Plasma Soft-Surgical, excess tissue is “vaporised” via a needle using a process known as sublimation, triggering the skin’s repair system. Ions from the plasma gas are then passed into the tissues to recharge the skin cells. Plasma Soft-Surgical is best for use on hooded eyes, lines and wrinkles on the face and neck, eye bags, scars, sun damage, moles, warts, verrucas and skin tags. Numbing cream may be used prior to treatment to provide a comfortable experience for the patient, and treatments can last between 15 and 45 minutes.

On the other hand, Plasma Shower is a less intensive form of treatment in which plasma is diffused across the skin, used to sterilise, reduce oil production, and act as an anti-inflammatory. Plasma Showers can also help control the production of melanin to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation. Plasma Showers can help reduce acne, improve pigmentation, and tighten the skin. Plasma Showers last roughly 15 minutes and are painless, with most patients experiencing no sensation at all at all.

Results of Plasma Soft-Surgical may be evident immediately, though full results can take up to 6 weeks while the skin is regenerated. Plasma Shower results will develop over the course of treatment. During your consultation, you will receive a thorough explanation of what you should expect post-treatment.

Before leaving the clinic, our team will arrange your next appointment in approx 6 weeks time.
