Laser the journey to smooth skin
Bursts of laser light at specific wavelengths penetrate along the hair below the skin surface to the root of the hair.
The Laser beam targets the dark pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft
the hair then absorbs the light energy and converts it to heat, this in turn
heats up the follicle and disables the hair growth mechanism.
Thermal damage occurs to key structures: bulb, bulge, vascular supply depending on the wavelength being used.
Hair regrowth is impeded or stopped
Laser only target hair in the anagen (growth) phase 90% of the hair is in the anagen stage at any one time hence several treatments will be required.
To understand Laser Hair Removal, you need an understanding of the Hair Growth Cycle and how that effects what we do and the reuslts that you will get.
The Hair growth cycle has three distinct growth phases.
These are known as the:
• Anagen: Active growth phase
• Catagen: Regressive phase
• Telogen: Resting phase
• The cycle for Facial Hair renews every 4 weeks
• The cycle for Body Hair renews every 6+ weeks
Of course the cycles for each hair are not synchronised, hence we recommend having multiple treatments scheduled at the correct time for optimal results.
We are able to treat all skin types including dark skin, using our Premium mixed technology Laser Hair Removal systems.
The Fitzpatrick table puts skin types into 6 different classifications.
The Fitzpatrick table measures 2 components, Genetic disposition and reaction to sun exposure.
The table tells us which Laser equipment and parameters to use for particular skin type.
*Results and benefits can vary and are different for each individual client. Skintique Clinic can therefore not guarantee specific results.
