The lunchtime facelift with Doublo Gold® 3rd Generation HiFu

Also known as Ultherapy or Ultraforma, Doublo Gold skin tightening is a revolutionary treatment of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) set to target different depths where the energy stimulates neocollagensis. HIFU also stimulates fibroblasts in your skin, remodels collagen and contracts the fat layers with little or no obvious healthing time. Known as the lunchtime face lift as you can return to your normal daily activities without any concern.

What is the treatment and what is it for?

HiFu stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. This ultrasound is used to target the very depths of the skin and surrounding tissue.

The major advantage is that ultrasound can reach where radiofrequency can’t.

Doublo Gold® 3rd Generation HiFu is a highly effective way of lifting the skin of the face and neck without the need for scalpels, needles, or even lengthy downtime.

As well as face and neck lifts, Doublo Gold® 3rd Generation HiFu is also adept at lifting the brow and achieves all-over skin tightening.

Treatment Safety

  • Safe and in compliance with European and FDA standards
  • Focused and targeted to delivery precise results.
  • There is minimal downtime and risk of complication associated with HiFu treatment vs surgery.

For example:

Your individual suitability for treatment will be fully assessed during your consultation.

HiFu stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. This energy reaches the underlying tissue – even the deepest support structures. This includes the dermis, epidermis, superficial dermis, deep dermis, and SMAS. SMAS is the same layer which is tightened during conventional surgery. However, unlike surgery, HIFU is more affordable, less invasive and requires no time off work.

The heat generated causes micro-injuries at three precise depths of the skin: 4.5mm, 3mm, and 1.5mm.  This process stimulates collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a protein that is responsible for repairing wounds, injuries, and the skin overall. However, as we get older, our skin produces less and less, and the current reserves in the skin begin to deplete. This weakens the skin and the connective tissues holding it in place, which is what causes lines, wrinkling, and sagging in the first place. By kick-starting the collagen production process, skin begins to repair and rebuild itself during the months following treatment for a firmer, tighter, and smoother appearance.

20 minutes before treatment, anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area to minimise any sensation. During treatment, a gentle but powerful dose of HiFu energy is directed towards the skin. The ultrasound is delivered in a series of pulses over the treatment area. After targeting the deeper structures of the area (SMAS), the process is then repeated to target the superficial structures.

The procedure is certainly more comfortable than surgical options. However, you may notice a dull discomfort during application to the deeper areas, and a sharp tingling sensation over the superficial areas. However, as a strong anaesthetic is applied before treatment, the sensation you do feel is generally mild and resolves immediately after the probe is lifted.

Most patients experience no downtime, and can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. Worst case they may experience something like a cat scratch which will resolve within 48-72 hours after the procedure.

During your consultation, you will receive a thorough explanation of what you should expect post-treatment. Most patients experience no downtime, and can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. Some patients experience a flushed appearance in the hours after treatment, though this usually subsides quickly. Any tenderness or bruising is usually mild and short-lived.

It is important to avoid extreme temperatures or sun exposure, and a high SPF is recommended to protect your skin. Staying hydrated is also necessary, and caffeine and alcohol should be avoided for at least 48 hours afterwards.

Full aftercare will be discussed and provided before starting your treatment.

At Skintique Clinic in Leicester, we pride ourselves on providing our patients with only the most effective, innovative options for skin treatments. It is important to us that we work with your unique goals and individual needs in mind, so all treatments are preceded by a thorough consultation with our fully-trained, skilled aestheticians. During the consultation, they will take the time to understand your aims, clearly communicate what to expect from treatments, and create a personalised treatment plan to meet your aspirations. At Skintique, we are proud to offer the breakthrough Doublo Gold® technology to our patients as a highly safe treatment that produces outstanding results.

After taking a full medical history, Dr Natalia Hancock will confirm your suitability for treatment. She will liaise with the aestheticians, who will discuss the treatment and your expectations with you. You will also be provided with detailed information on the procedure and the likely outcomes. Should you wish to go ahead with the treatment after a cooling-off period another appointment will be made.

Though you may notice an immediate improvement, results may take up to 6 weeks to fully develop as the collagen in the skin needs time to rebuild. These results will last up to 18 months. We arrange a follow-up appointment after 6 weeks to discuss your results and further treatment options.
